Shipping Policy
Where we ship
We currently ship within New Zealand only. We don't ship overseas yet.
How your order ships
The 80 Shop works with specialist 80 Series manufacturers and suppliers in New Zealand and Australia. Most parts are sent directly to you from the supplier that makes or stocks them, rather than from a single warehouse. This means:
- An order containing parts from more than one supplier will arrive in separate parcels, on different days, each with its own tracking.
- Shipping is charged per supplier. Your checkout shows the combined freight for every supplier's delivery.
Lead times, made-to-order and custom parts
Many of our parts are made to order, custom-built or supplied on pre-order. Where this applies, the expected lead time is shown on the product, in your cart and at checkout, before you pay (for example "Made to order, dispatched in 4 to 6 weeks").
Lead times are estimates provided by our suppliers, not guaranteed dates. Custom and made-to-order parts depend on the manufacturer's workload, material supply and quality checks, and it is not unusual for a quoted 4 to 6 week build to take 8 weeks or more. We will keep you updated. If your order is going to take substantially longer than the time shown, we will contact you with a revised estimate, and you can choose to wait or cancel for a full refund of any part that has not yet been made or dispatched.
Please do not plan a build, workshop booking or trip around an estimated delivery date. We are not responsible for costs arising from delays, including workshop bookings, vehicle hire, travel or lost time.
Delivery times
Delivery times start once a part has been made and dispatched by the supplier, and are in addition to any lead time above. As a guide:
- From New Zealand suppliers: usually 1 to 5 working days.
- Small and medium parts from Australia: usually 5 to 15 working days.
- Large, heavy or custom-built items from Australia (such as consoles and door trims): these often travel by sea freight. Allow 3 to 6 weeks, or longer at busy times, from dispatch to delivery, including shipping across the Tasman, customs clearance and delivery within New Zealand.
- Rural addresses: allow an extra 1 to 3 working days.
Shipping schedules, port congestion, customs and biosecurity inspections, weather and public holidays are outside our control and can add time. For a large custom-built part from Australia, the total time from order to delivery can be 10 to 14 weeks. If you need a part by a particular date, please contact us before ordering and we will check with the supplier.
Tracking
When each part of your order is dispatched, we will email you its tracking details. Our suppliers use a range of carriers, including NZ Post, NZ Couriers, Post Haste, Mainfreight, TNT/FedEx, StarTrack and sea freight forwarders, so parts from different suppliers may arrive with different carriers. Sea freight is often not tracked in detail until it arrives in New Zealand.
Shipping costs
Freight is calculated at checkout from the parts in your cart. Large, heavy or bulky items carry higher freight charges, which reflect the real cost of getting them to you.
Delivery address and receiving your order
We cannot deliver to PO Boxes or Parcel Lockers. Please provide a street address where the goods can be received. Heavy items may require a signature and may be delivered to the kerb or driveway rather than inside.
Please check your address carefully at checkout. If a delivery fails or is returned because of an incorrect or incomplete address, or because nobody was available to accept it, any re-delivery or storage costs may be charged to you.
Orders from Australia: import GST
Some of our parts are made in Australia and imported into New Zealand. Where New Zealand import GST applies, it is already included in the product price and freight shown on our website, so there is nothing extra to pay on delivery. If you are ever asked to pay an import or clearance charge for one of our parts, please contact us before paying and we will sort it out.
Damaged, faulty or incorrect items
Please check your order as soon as it arrives, and let us know within 48 hours if anything is damaged, missing or not as described. Include your order number and clear photos of the item, the packaging and any shipping labels, and keep all packaging until your claim is resolved. We will work with the supplier and carrier to repair, replace or refund, as required under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
Lost parcels
If your tracking has not updated for 7 working days, or shows as delivered but you have not received it, please contact us and we will open an investigation with the supplier and carrier. Investigations usually take 5 to 10 working days. Once the carrier confirms a parcel is lost, we will replace the item or refund you.
Cancellations and changes
You can cancel or change an order before it has been dispatched or, for made-to-order and custom parts, before manufacturing has started. Once a made-to-order or custom part is in production, it may not be possible to cancel. Please see our Refund Policy for details.
Your rights
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
